To Die for... Naturally of Course
Posted on June 19, '09 by Elena Gallegos.

Don’t freak, Julia deVille’s work is to die for. It might seem kinda out there but I’m intrigued by the esthetic beauty and concept behind Julia deVille’s pieces. The New Zealander uses her skills in leather work, jewelry and taxidermy to create Memento Mori’s or reminders of our mortality. Inspired by Memento Mori Jewelry popular in the 15th-18th centuries and Victorian Mourning Jewelry, she works under the name DISCE MORI (Latin for Lern To Dyi). Julia considers her taxidermy " a celebration of life and preservation of something beautiful" and only uses animals that have died of natural causes to emphasize her strong belief in the fair and just treatment of animals. So when I say her high fashionably hot gloves are to die for (really I mean sizzlin) I mean naturally of course. For more info and see her jewelry, exhibition pieces, and accessories check out www.juliadeville.com.
deVille- “Death is a taboo subject. We’re so obsessed with looking young, finding ways to prolong life. We need to remember that every day is important, life is important. I want to inspire people to contemplate their own mortality, in a positive way. I’m not a morbid person, but I’m not afraid of acknowledging that I’m mortal.” She is so dedicated to her work that she has donated her body to be preserved and displayed after death.
Live in the moment loves.
Peace.

"Thanks Due- Promo Shoot "
Posted on June 01, '09 by Elena Gallegos.

Progression is… a third promoshoot consisting of a clean big rig truck, an electric blue pair of disco pumps, an acid wash jumper and cropped jacket- (two of our absolute favorites), a gray leather bomber- another fav,a grimy green wall- (walls have so much potential), a hot black disco dress from the personal collection (notriously known as “glow in the dark undie dress”), Bubble tape gum, a cruiser- courtesy of Byrd, hammer pants, Moxie soda and an amazing model and the direction of a endearingly bossy 60 year old man/fan of America’s Next Top Model.
Of all our shoots this was by far the best. We had a sucessful day with our beautiful model Alanna. We can’t get enough of her DO, which she does herself. If you need you’re hair done, look her up! You can find her at Delisioso Salon in Midtown Sacramento.
Thanks to all that helped out. And a big thanks Alanna for being super patient with us, we know that we made it a bit tough on you, using that gum in all. Next time we’ll use Hubba Bubba, it’s the best as far as bubble blowing.
Peace

"Meshugga Chic"
Posted on May 25, '09 by Elena Gallegos.
Ok so this has been a long time coming, since our founding in 08 …
But were estatic and spazzing to say we’ve finally getting our shit together! We can now say welcome to the revamped Meshugga site! We’re progressing even in this time of recession.
No doubt we are all about bringing you back, because the saying ‘going out of fashion is subjective’. We are firm believers in the all of the advantages of vintage, recycling, etc. But bluntly we’re tired of seeing the same old boring blah. These fashions aren’t flatlined; reviving them is a fitting way to keep it fresh and funky. We truly love our pieces and hope you enjoy our collections of classics .
A big thanks to all of our models featured on the site!
Stay alert we have a few things in the works.
Peace and Let Meshugga run through ya
